  • We kindly ask that you don’t wash any of the costumes you rent from Costume Conjurer. Some costumes require specialist techniques or cleaning agents, and regular washing may cause irreparable damage.

    Basic cleaning is included in the rental fee you pay. Soiling or excessive uncleanliness of costumes may incur an additional fee.

  • We kindly ask that you do not attempt to make any alterations, repairs, or changes to any costumes you rent from Costume Conjurer.

    Minor alterations may be made by the Costume Conjurer by prior arrangement.

    Alternatively, we are open to accepting commissions tailored to you, so you can be assured of a proper fit.

  • All costume rentals from the Costume Conjurer are subject to a 25% security bond, paid at the same time as the rental fee. This is to ensure that any minor damage to costumes is covered ahead of time.

    Upon returning your rented costumes, Costume Conjurer will assess the items, and if everything is in acceptable condition, your bond payment will be returned in full.

    Further fees may be incurred in the case of serious damage, loss, theft, or destruction of costumes.

  • Currently we do not offer shipping. We encourage all clients to schedule a time to come to our costume studio for a fitting, so that we can assure the pieces you hire fit comfortably.

    In future, we may offer shipping within New Zealand, so please enquire if you are interested.

  • We offer rental periods of 72 hours, and 5, 7, and 14 days as standard. We are happy to accommodate requests for longer rental periods.

Costume Rental Terms & Conditions

By renting from Costume Conjurer, you agree to the following terms:

1. Rental Period

Rentals begin on the pickup date and must be returned by the agreed return date. Late returns incur a daily fee per item.

2. Fees & Security Bond

Rental fees must be paid upfront or as arranged. A refundable bond (25% of the rental total) is also required. Deductions may apply for damage or loss.

3. Costume Care

Costumes must be used appropriately and not altered or exposed to harmful conditions. Care instructions will be provided.

4. Damage, Loss or Theft

Lessee is responsible for repair or full replacement costs if items are returned damaged, lost, or stolen.

5. Cleaning

Basic cleaning is included. Excessive soiling or pest infestation will incur extra charges.

6. Cancellations

  • Full refund (minus 2%) if cancelled 5+ business days before rental.

  • 80% refund if cancelled at least 48 hours prior.

  • No refund if cancelled within 48 hours of start date.

7. Liability

Lessee assumes all risk of use. Costume Conjurer is not liable for any injury or damages related to costume use.

8. Returns

Costumes must be returned on time and in original packaging.

9. Legal Jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by New Zealand law and remains in effect until all items are returned in proper condition.
